Design, Assembly, Installation and commissioning of a blackstart control system for 2X 29MVA GE TM2500 turbines at the NNPC refining company in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Hakman Engineering recently designed, assembled, supplied Installed and commissioned a blackstart control system for 2X 29MVA GE TM2500 turbines at the NNPC refining company in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

The blackstart control system was built around the DSE8620 single genset synchronising and load sharing control system and the DSE8004 Multiset display unit with HMI Interface was used to synchronise the 1500Kva Perkins blackstart gen set with the turbines during the turbine starting and stopping process.

To start turbine, the 1500kva gen set is called to service via the DSE8620 Interface to power the turbine auxiliary loads for turbine lubrication. The turbine is started manually and on receipt of a command, the 8620 synchronises and parallels the 1500Kva gen set supply with the turbine auxiliary loads to the turbine supply and then drops out the gen set, leaving the auxiliary loads running on the turbine supply. The blackstart gen set is then ramped out, left to cool down and stopped.

To stop turbine, the DSE8620 sychronises and parallels the 1500Kva blackstart gen set with the turbine supply to enable it power the turbine auxillary loads. The turbine is then manually shut down leaving the 1500Kva blackstart gen set powering the auxiliary load for the duration of the turbine post stopping lubrication time after which the gen set is automatically cooled off and stopped.

The DSE8004 multiset display provided a remote monitoring interface for the gen set parameters and status of the gen set and incoming turbine supply breakers and alarms.
